Overview

FlowDeck (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the FlowDeck CLI and FlowDeck Studio macOS app.

The short version: FlowDeck development work runs locally on your Mac. The CLI has no product telemetry. The macOS app uses PostHog product analytics identified by one-way hash. We do not send source code, project data, build output, names, email addresses, license keys, license IDs, or license statuses to PostHog. Our website uses anonymous Google Analytics and PostHog product analytics with privacy-masked session replay. We collect your name and email at purchase, and we never sell your data.

Product Analytics

The FlowDeck CLI contains no product telemetry. The FlowDeck Studio macOS app uses PostHog to understand product usage and improve the app. PostHog receives a salted one-way SHA-256 hash as the distinct ID. The email address and the machine identifier themselves never leave your Mac. Nothing else is attached, so PostHog holds no name, email address, license key, or license ID for you. Beyond the identifier and the plan type, PostHog receives app and OS metadata supplied by the SDK and non-identifying product events such as feature usage counts and boolean states. We do not collect or transmit:

Source code, project files, or build output

Build logs, compiler output, or terminal output

Project names, schemes, targets, or file paths

Names, email addresses, license keys, license IDs, or license statuses through PostHog

Crash reports or stack traces

To be precise about what the hashed identifier means: it is pseudonymous, not anonymous. PostHog cannot tell who it belongs to, but we can match it back to an account by hashing a license ourselves, and we can act on a deletion request for that reason. We treat it as personal data accordingly.

What We Collect

When you purchase FlowDeck or start a trial, we collect:

Name and email address, Required to create your license and send you purchase confirmation and license information.

We never share, sell, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data is used solely to manage your license, provide support, and improve the product.

What We Don’t Collect

FlowDeck does not collect:

Your source code or project files

Build logs or error messages

Hardware profiles or device fingerprints beyond the machine identifier used for licensing and the macOS app’s PostHog distinct ID

Local Processing

All FlowDeck build and development operations run locally on your machine. Your source code, project files, and build outputs never leave your computer.

License Validation

When you activate a FlowDeck license, minimal information is exchanged with our license server (powered by Lemon Squeezy) to validate your license key. This includes:

Your license key

A machine identifier (to enforce license activation limits)

Website Analytics

Our website (flowdeck.studio) uses Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how visitors find and use our site. PostHog provides product analytics, performance and error signals, heatmaps, and session replay. This website analytics does not track your use of the FlowDeck software itself. You can opt out using browser extensions or privacy tools.

Website analytics uses an anonymous browser identity. We record aggregate conversion events such as trial starts and purchases, but we do not send license keys or identify website visitors against the macOS app.

Website visitors are anonymous. We do not link your website visit to your license, your purchase, or your use of the macOS app.

Privacy-masked session replay. PostHog may record privacy-masked playbacks of website visits. All form inputs are masked, and sensitive query parameters—including license keys—are redacted in the browser before analytics or replay data is sent. Website visitors remain anonymous and are not identified against the macOS app.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Lemon Squeezy: Payment processing and license management. Their privacy policy applies to purchase transactions.

Google Analytics: Website analytics only (not in-app).

PostHog (website): Website analytics and privacy-masked session replay (not in-app).

PostHog (macOS app): Pseudonymous product analytics in the macOS app, identified by a one-way hash. We do not send names, email addresses, license keys, or license IDs to PostHog.

Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

Access any personal data we hold about you

Request correction or deletion of your data

Object to processing of your data

Data portability

To request removal of your data, email support@flowdeck.studio and we’ll process your request within 30 days.

Data Retention

We retain purchase records and license information as required for business and legal purposes. If you request deletion of your data, we will comply within 30 days, except where we’re legally required to retain certain records.

Children’s Privacy

FlowDeck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
